2016 was a great year for all sectors of technology. It is the year when the uprising of Artificial Intelligence became imminent, Virtual Intelligence became more advance, Jet Stream at the North Pole discovered, Tim Peake became the first official U.K. astronaut in space, and what not. Here is a summary of how far technology and science have come in just 365 days of 2016.

AI Uprising

Where Microsoft is developing its AI and is on top in the sector, Google's Deep Mind made observers stunned with yet another powerful demonstrations. In March, Google DeepMind entered into a programme by AlphaGo against Lee Sedol in a strategy board game GO. Out of the five matches played, Lee Sedol won only one whereas DeepMind won four matches winning a $1m prize. The won further concluded into many types of research in order to detect human brain and its activities. In a research led by UCL and Oxford University, Jan Balaguer who is an author quoted that AI can help design clever algorithms, quoted by BBC.com.

Metalenses

These game-changing lenses will be deployed in telescopes and camera to replace its curved, bulky lenses. The invention made in 2016 where its US Inventors claimed that the flat screen lenses will be a game changer. These Metalenses are 30% sharper than the conventional one. As these "metalenses" also dubbed as "game-changing lenses" are flat, it can be produced on large-scale in same foundries where the computer chips are produced leading to lower cost.

Tim Peake's space flight

Tim Peake, an English astronaut became the first U.K. astronaut to launch into space officially beating the 1991 record of Helen Sharman who is the Soviet Mir Space Station. The journey was epic. He eventually became the first person to spacewalk with Union Flag on the arms. The spacewalk was averted soon after water started seeping in his colleague's helmet. Tim also became the first person to run the London Marathon right from the space.

Juno Reaches Jupiter

Juno reached Jupiter's orbit after a 05-year expedition in space crossing all another planet. Juno will transmit data for a few years now. Juno transmitted exceptional photos of Jupiter's North planet back to Earth while on a flyby and 36 more to go, as reported by CNET.

Neverending Kepler's Journey

Originally, Kepler launched in the dark space for a mission period of 3.5 Years on planet hunts. But even after 3.5 Years, Kepler is going on discovering new exoplanets. Meanwhile, it is transmitting data, Kepler has confirmed 3,431 planets as of December 2016. Kepler has more discovering on its name. It has discovered over 104 planets in July 2016 and 1,284 planets as on May 2016. And More discoveries are on the verge of happening.

Exoskeletons for Paraplegics

Building an exoskeleton is an idea that even Iron Man uses but in virtual, however, in 2016, scientists were able to create a wearable robot exoskeletons that enable the paralysis walk and even restores sensation of walking.

3D Printers printing history

When 3D printers were in their early stage, they were used to make prototypes and miniature structure of any objects. In 2016, all changed. 3D printers are now being used to recreate replicas, for instance, a 2,000-year-old monument was recreated. The Monumental Arch of Palmyra was destroyed by Daesh, a terrorist group. Similarly, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia.

Solar Power Plane encompassing the Earth

Solar Power is colossal and a never-ending source of energy. To demonstrate, researchers created Solar Impulse 2, a solar panel-clad plane that started its journey of 24,855 miles and landed in July 2016 in Abu Dhabi. The 23-day journey was powered by Solar Power and no other fuel was used.

That's not all. BBC published a list of Scientific advancement made in 2016 that includes the outcome of Albert Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, Earth's doppelganger planet Proxima Centauri, Rosetta crashed on Comet 64P, etc. CNET elaborate the list with scientific advancement that is Brain Implant for Paralysis and much more.
