Microsoft, Apple and Google partner with LG For Flexible OLED Displays

Smartphone displays have come up a long way. New display technologies are being introduced by manufacturers almost after every year. The flexible and bendable displays are now a real thing and will soon make into mobile phones and other devices.

New reports reveal that tech giants such as Apple, Microsoft and Google may soon come up with devices with foldable OLED display, reports Phone Arena. These companies have reportedly partnered with South-Korean giant LG Display, which the display subsidiary of LG for bendable displays to be used into foldable devices with a mechanism that helps the screen stretched over the surface. Previously, Samsung was the only company which successfully created a working prototype of a flexible OLED display. But with this new partnership, LG Display will become one of the mass producers of OLED panels.

The new partnership could also mean that Apple might put a bendable display on its upcoming iPhone as leaked previously. Google, on the other hand is interested to put these flexible OLED screens on its upcoming iteration of Pixel phones. Microsoft is also interested in OLED panels for its future Surface devise. Apart from phones and tablets, we might also see some really exciting devices which can be folded just like a paper.

OLED screens are really the future of display technology as they have infinite contrast ratios, higher brightness levels, a wider colour range and require very less power to operate, reports OLED-info. The main advantage of OLED screens is that they are ultra-thin and can be folded just like a paper. They are much cheaper to produce than conventional LCD and LED panels which means that future devices will all be equipped with OLED panels.

South-Korean giants, LG Display and Samsung will be the mass producers of flexible OLED panels because of the quality panels produced by them. Oppo and Lenovo also produced prototype OLED displays but their level of perfection was not upto the mark.
