When countries all over the world are debating about the migration and the UK is also busy about this subject, then a great thing happens in the skies of the UK. Sky of the UK is flooded with a huge number of migrant insects and the truth is, it remains unseen by most of the people.

This may be the first time when scientists have discovered the activities of the 'high-flying' insects in the skies of the southern part of England. The number of the insects is surprising. It is not 1 million or 2 million, but the number is 3.5 trillion.

Famous Journal Science has published a study report on this amazing incident. The publication contains a research study that unveils many unknown facts, including the balance of the ecosystem with the help of insects.

Even reports from the desk of the University of Exeter and Rothamsted Research have discovered some phenomenal facts regarding this incident. The study recently captured this incident by using unique radar techniques.

The study of the University of Exeter and Rothamsted Research has actually discovered the movement of this huge number of the biomass which is seven times more than the mass of the 30 million songbirds that leave the UK and sheltered in Africa every year in the Autumn season.

The number of the insects is also equivalent to the number of 20,000 flying reindeer.

Dr. Jason Chapman of the University of Exeter opined that the bodies of the insects are rich in nutrients and it is impossible to ignore the importance of these insects' movements.

He also quoted that the density of the insects over the southern part of the UK is "extrapolated to the airspace above all continental landmasses". This fact unveils an important truth that is this migration indicates essential animal movement in the ecosystem on land.

The mysterious part of this incident is the source and the destination of each insect is not revealed and even not recorded. But previous research has suggested that most of the insects are "travelling to and from the UK over the English Channel and North Sea".

The radar system only reveals the seasonal movement of these insects. In the Spring time a major portion of these insects 'generally going northwards' and in the Autumn season, they choose southern part.

So far the scientists have only measured the activity or the movement of the nocturnal species, but they never researched about the movements of the daytime migrants.

According to the analysis of Dr. Gao Hu from Nanjing Agricultural University, China, a large number of insects play the key role to maintain a healthy ecosystem. Insects provide benefits like pollination, even they become the food of the insectivorous birds and bats.

The study also discovers that these 'high-flying' insects can identify the condition of the Global environment and this can be very helpful for the scientists to unveil the current situation of the world environment.

Dr. Ka S (Jason) Lim from the Rothamsted Research uttered that animal migration and the movement is truly a complex feature that takes a long time to evolve. This feature is truly very essential for a good climatic condition.

Above all it can be easily said that insects are the inevitable part of the ecosystem on earth and this mass insect migration truly reveals many unknown truths about the nature of the insects.
