Wes Anderson’s 'Isle of Dogs" Picked Up by Fox Searchlight: See Details Here!

Fox Searchlight Pictures has announced that it has acquired worldwide rights to Academy Award nominee Wes Anderson's "Isle of Dogs". The film will be director Anderson's second animated movie, the first is the Academy Award-nominated "Fantastic Mr. Fox".

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents, Nancy Utley and Steve Gilula noted that Anderson is one of the most talented film makers of his, or any other, generation. They stated that his ability to write smart and unconventional screenplays and also translate them into unique experiences on screen makes him not only a unique voice in film, but one who can truly bridge the gap between independent films and cross over hits.

"We are thrilled to be going on a journey into the newest world from the distinctive imagination of Wes Anderson," they added.

The voice cast includes F. Murray Abraham, Bud Cort, Bob Balaban, Bryan Cranston, Jeff Goldblum, Greta Gerwig, Akira Ito, Harvey Keitel, Scarlett Johansson, Kunichi Nomura, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Koyu Rankin, Yoko Ono, Liev Schreiber, Akira Takayama, Tilda Swinton and Frank Wood.

Anderson, Steven Rales, Scott Rudin and Jeremy Dawson will return as producers following the success of their last production partnership "The Grand Budapest Hotel". Meanwhile Fox Searchlight Pictures will distribute the movie in partnership with Indian Paintbrush, according to Comingsoon.

Production is still ongoing in London on the stop-motion feature. Isle of Dogs follows a boy's odyssey in search of his dog. The film is set in Japan.

Anderson's last feature "the Budapest hotel" was nominated in 2015 for nine Academy Awards, including best director and best picture. It won four of the awards - for production design, score, costume, and hair and makeup.

Indian Paintbrush is a motion picture development, production and financing company based in Santa Monica. It has a long history with Wes Anderson with Isle of Dogs marking their fifth collaboration. Indian Paintbrush has produced four other features from the Oscar nominee, according to THR.

Fox Searchlight Pictures is also a specialty film company that finances and acquires motion pictures. It has its own marketing and distribution operations. It films are distributed internationally by Twentieth Century Fox. it is a unit of 21st Century Fox. The film is scheduled for release in 2018.
