2016 continued and the trend and the smartphone penetration was a record high. People have been using their smartphones to access information from around the world and the digital information consumption was persistent all over the globe. Due to this fashion, several smartphone manufacturers experienced record sales and some experienced bitter failures due to their products.

Apple

Apple's success saga continued in 2016 also and company saw record growth and sales numbers. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were launched in 2016 and became consumer's favourite phones. The dual cameras on the iPhone 7 Plus are nothing short of amazing and can easily replace a point-and-shoot camera. Though wrapped in the same skin, the internals of iPhone 7 an it's bigger brother are upgraded to deliver exceptional performance. All these factors made the devices a huge success and helped Apple to capture a good share of the smartphone market reports Fortune.

Samsung

Samsung is the top player in the smartphone market, period. The Korean giant had gained a good market share because of the success of its Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone. This phone was an almost perfect device and gathered praise from everywhere. However, Samsung had similar expectations from its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone but a simple fault in the device and Samsung lost its market share to Apple. The Note 7 fiasco continued for several weeks and Samsung replaced the phone several times but a possible design fault was the culprit which led to Note 7 ban and ultimately Samsung halted the production of the smartphone, reported US TODAY.

Huawei

Huawei rose to new heights in 2016 and produced some brilliant devices which made it to jump to third place after Samsung and Apple in terms of market share. Huawei Mate 9 is easily one of the best smartphones available with a dual lens camera from Leica. Motorola

Lenovo took over Motorola and was expected that the new devices would not be able to continue the legacy. However, Lenovo did a brilliant job and launched one of the successful series of devices, Moto Z series. Moto Z was the flagship phone from Lenovo and it was one of first phone to feature a modular design. The camera mod, battery mod and a speaker mod were made exclusively for Moto Z and they complemented the functionality of the device. Moto Z Play, the mid-range device from Lenovo was one of the best device in terms of battery life.
