A rare total solar eclipse identified as the "Big One" will be visible in the skies of United States sometime in 2017 for the first time in the country's history. This astronomical phenomenon is the first total solar eclipse in nearly a hundred years.

In a latest report posted by EarthSky ,On August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the sun will be noticeable from a narrow passageway crossing the United States. It will be the preeminent total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous U.S. since 1979. The trail of the moon's umbral darkness begins in the northern Pacific and moves east so the eclipse iwill be visible in some parts of Oregon,Idaho, Kansas and Illnois.

Meanwhile,on a different report posted by the Weather Network , the "Great American Eclipse" of 2017 will begin in Oregon and cross over 12 states ahead of exiting in South Carolina. Its trail will be 67 miles wide. The astronomical scenario will only be apparent from the U.S. and will mark the first time a total solar eclipse has only been noticeable in the motherland since it was established in 1776.
A total solar eclipse transpires when the new moon reaches within the sun and the earth. The sun and its rays are completely blocked by the moon in the path of the eclipse.

According to other reports, aside from the 'Big One' other celestial events will also be noticeable in the skies of America this coming 2017. As early as January 1, the southwestern sky is the stage to the union of the waxing crescent moon and Venus. On January 2 the two will be back but with the moon in the center.

A penumbral lunar eclipse will occur on February 11 and astronomical specialists stated that this situation is so complex hardly anyone would notice it. The Orionid meteor shower will stream on October 21 and the Leonid on November 17. And of course Jupiter will be imminent to our planet on April 7 and it can be seen from the east after sunset. Evidently, 2017 is a great year for Americans who are fond of skygazing.
