'Pokemon Sun & Moon, Final Fantasy 15': Amazon’s 2016 Best-Selling Holiday Games

Amazon has revealed its top 3 best-selling games during the 2016 holiday season. It has also shared the best-selling products during the season in many other categories across the site. The latest Pokemon (sun and moon) and Final Fantasy games are the top 3 best selling games according to the Amazon.

The announcement did not come as a surprise to gamers as the "Pokemon Sun, "Pokemon Moon and the "Final Fantasy 15" titles garnered lots of popularity during the holiday shopping season. The demand for the games was very high, but all the credit to the "Pokemon GO craze" launched in July which raised the demand for Pokemon frenzy and made it attained a height that it hasn't in many years.

The "Pokemon Sun and Moon" had a successful launch, breaking Nintendo records for fastest-selling game in various regions across the globe. Gamers already know how well the games have been doing in the sales stores.

The Final Fantasy titles also had an extremely successful launch. Square Enix announced that "Final Fantasy XV" shipped out 5 million copies at launch worldwide, according to GameSpot.

However, Amazon did not share the sales figures for any of the game, but it noted in a press statement that "Pokemon Sun, "Pokemon Moon, and "Final Fantasy XV" for PS4 were the three best-selling games on the site. Amazon did not also share the specific period the calculation covers, but it is presumed to be within November and December. 

The high demand for "Final Fantasy 15" can be attributed to its numerous delay, fans could not help but be curious about the cause of the delay. When the game finally launched, fans were so overwhelmed and every wanted one. The titles launched close to the holiday shopping season according to GameRant.

Other games that launched within the same period such as "The Last Guardian" and "Dead Rising 4" did not make it to the list. The omission of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" from the list however, came as a big surprise as it was top of the NPD's November sales charts in the United States.

Amazon's best-selling movies include "Finding Dory",  "The Secret Life of Pets" and the complete Harry Potter collection. Amazon's own products dominated across the site overall, with the Echo Dot, Fire tablet, Fire TV Stick and Echo at the top of the list.

It is believed that these games deserve the big sales numbers they have garnered.
