New Tech Releases In 2017: Will AMD Be Able To Give Intel A Fight This Year?

AMD is all set to carve a new space for itself in the CPU and GPU markets. It means that it will have to clash with the graphics card titan Nvidia, and the processor king Intel. AMD is all the only company to try and claim 2017 to itself. There are several other PC tech companies which are on the verge of launching their new products in the market:

Intel Kaby Lake CPU vs AMD Ryzen CPU

According to the PCGamesN, 2017 CPU fight is going to be really interesting. AMD is ready to release its Ryzen while Intel may roll out its Intel Kaby Lake CPUs in January 2017 too.

For the first time, Intel is going to launch the desktop version of the Kaby Lake architecture. The sixth generation of the Core CPUs, Kaby Lake CPU is expected to be much faster than the current processors. However, it may not have much else to talk about. Still, first K-series 13 processor Kaby Lake will enable can soon become the ultimate budget gaming CPU.

AMD Ryzen CPU architecture promises to deliver the performance of the Intel's octo-core processors for nearly half the price. AMD is also going to employ the power of Zen to offer six-core, 12-thread versions of chips, and cheaper quad-core processors with eight-thread chips known as Raven Ridge processors - to rival Intel's innovative offerings.

Experts say that Raven Ridge processors, when combined with the AMD's Vega graphics card, can deliver the performance of PS4 levels.

AMD Vega vs Nvidia's 1080 Ti Graphics Card

While AMD mid-range cards proved a match for  Nvidia's DirectX12 and Vulkan APIs, NVidia still has the upper hand when it comes having the most powerful and fastest GPU in the market.

The DSO Gaming states that the brand new AMD Vega GPU architecture may not be even be as fast as 1080 (let alone the 1080ti). According to the leaked specifications, 1080ti has a base clock of 1503 Mhz (1623 boost clock) while the RX 490 merely has 1200. 1080ti packs the power of 10.8 Tflops while the RX 490 does just 9.8 Tflops compute power.

The actual results are yet to be seen though.

We don't usually talk of motherboards. However, the threads of your CPU or the power of your graphics card means nothing until it has a motherboard that matches up to it.

2017 is going to see the launch of three new, high-end motherboard platforms.

Intel's Z270 motherboards are going to launch in January, along with their Kaby Lake CPUs. However, they do not promise much other than a little performance boost and increase in the number of PCIe 3.0 lanes on the board from 20 to 24 -to make more room for the PCIe-based SSDs.

Intel and Micron are coming up with new Optane SSDs too to enhance the memory storage capacity of your PCs.

AMD AM4 platform will be compatible with its Zen, Bristol Ridge and Raven Ridge CPUs. It will feature three different chipsets for three tiers - the entry-level A320 chipset, mid-range B350 chipset, and high-end X370 chipset. Not much is known about it yet.
