Withings (owned by Nokia), Kérastase (a high-end L'Oreal hair product brand, and the L'Oreal innovation lab has teamed up together to create a smart hair brush which can store and analyze data on your hair brushing habits, and can serve as your personal Hair Coach.

The Fortune reports that the Kérastase Hair Coach is making its debut at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. One can buy this cool gadget online or at Kérastase hair salons.

The P&G President Colleen Jay Balooch says the brush can give a daily hair breakage score to you, and offer you tips based on your hair type and brushing behavior. "It will basically be your hair coach," Balooch said. We suspect that it may make a few recommendations for Kérastase beauty products now and then.

This brush can tell how often you brush your hair and for how long. It can also tell how much pressure you apply on the brush, and whether it's good for you or not.

The Verge reports that besides a Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth, this unique hair brush has:

  • a microphone to listen to your hair brushing pattern,
  • an accelerometer, commodity sensors, and a gyroscope to analyze your brush strokes and patterns,
  • conductivity sensors that can understand whether your hair are wet or dry, and
  • transducers that can measure the pressure your are applying while you brush your hair.

All this data gets shared with a corresponding mobile app that you can download on your smartphone.

The brush gets powered by two AA batteries, which are said to last around six months. The bristles are of nylon and boar, and the paddle is light to carry. The app can help you judge the quality of your hair, and judge the actual results of different hair care routines.

The price of the brush is a bit steep but if you really into hair care products, 'under $200' might not sound too much to you.
