There Will Be TWO 'Ghost in the Shell' Movie Released In Theaters This Year (VIDEO)

'Ghost in the Shell' original movie from 1995 will return to theaters this February. For two days only, 7 and 8 February. Mamoru Oshii's classic anime movie will be shown in two versions, the Japanese original dub and English dub. The Japanese one will be on February 7, while the English dub will be on the next day. This makes we will have two 'Ghost in the Shell' movie this year, the anime and the live-action which stars Scarlett Johansson as Motoko Kusanagi.

As reported by LAtimes, the founder and CEO of funimation Gen Fukunaga had this to say in a press release "'Ghost in the Shell' is truly a seminal work in anime cinema and it helped firmly establish a market for the genre with U.S. movie audiences. We're excited to be partnering with Lionsgate to bring the original 'Ghost in the Shell' movie back to U.S. theaters."

Based from a manga series by Masamune Shirow, the movie will tell the tale of Motoko Kusanagi, set in a world where the line between technology and nature is blurred. The protagonist is a major in a government agency called sector 9 who's in charge in taking down cyber-criminals. This anime carries a philosophical message through the eyes of a half-technological, half-biological being which is the protagonist. Powered by great visuals and story, 'Ghost in the Shell' spawned anime series and a video game. The special screenings will be held at 110 theaters across US according to gamespot.

The tickets already on sale now on the movie's official site, along with the location of the theaters. Be sure to catch both movies on theaters this year. 'Ghost in the Shell' 1995 anime will be shown in 7 and 8 February. And the live-action version directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Scarlet Johansson, Pilou Asbek, Takeshi Kitano and Juliette Binoche will hit theaters March 31.
