Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge users may finally have some good news in the store at the beginning of this New Year. Samsung is rolling out Android Nougat 7 update through Over-the-Air (OTA) update starting from January 17, 2017. But, shockingly, HTC 10 stopped rolling out the Android Nougat 7 update.

However, this OTA will be first received by Samsung customers who have signed up for the Beta program. In November 2016, Samsung launched the Beta Program Android Nougat 7 update for Sasmung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge users. Regular users have to wait for some time as Samsung has not confirmed any clear date.

As per Android Authority, the OTA update is being sent first to Beta program registered users and subsequently for regular users after two weeks. It is rumored that the first updates are being released in the US & European users next week.  It is also unclear which all other variants of Samsung are being updated.

A leaked screenshot showed in Android Police that a Samsung Model SM-935F smartphone was tested for the Android Nougat 7 update. The size of the update was precisely 251MB. Along with the update, Samsung tries to patch up or improve security features, system improvements, and fix bugs.

Android Nougat 7 version brings in a host of features which include multi-tasking windows, New Emojis, new Google's GIF keyboard, 3D shortcuts to home screen and much more. It also gives a Google Daydream support, vital for watching 3D videos.

Samsung Galaxy S7, the 5.1-Inch phone, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the 5.5-inch smartphone were both released in March 2016. Galaxy S7 comes with a display resolution of  2560 x 1440 pixels (577 ppi), 4GB RAM and a storage of 32GB/64GB and with an option for Micro SD slot to beef up the storage.

But, HTC fans will be shell shocked to hear this, that their once flagship product, HTC 10 is not getting the Android Nougat update. HTC initially offered the Beta Program in November 2016, but, later on cancelled due to bugs in the software. It is rumored that HTC will fix the bugs and later on offer the Nougat 7 update.
