'Neko Atsume' Latest News & Update: Trailer For Smartphone Game Movie Is Out

"Neko Atsume" is a Japanese live-action movie which is quickly becoming a rage in the Internet world. Based on the video game of the same name, it is the presence of cats that makes this movie so special. The poster and trailer of the film have been released. The trailer is available only in Japanese with no English subtitles.

There has been no official announcement if "Neko Atsume" movie will be released in the US or not. According to the Gizmodo, the movie is 90-minutes long, and shows show us the magic of adorable live-action cats lounging around a house.

 The Crunchyroll reported that the film is based on a popular cat-collecting app. Atsushi Ito plays the protagonist Masary Sakamoto in the movie, who is a best-selling writer but is going through a phase of writer's block. He takes off to a house in the country to find inspiration and meets a stray cat there. He leaves a bowl of food outside the house for the cat and soon, finds himself collecting a number of cats.

The smartphone game "Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector" has been developed by Hit-Point. It allows players to collect digital kitties. "Neko Atsume no le" (which means Cat Collection House) is its live-action film adaptation. Those who have used the Neko Atsume app will realize that some of the cats in the movie resemble the game's cats and have the same toy preferences. Neko Atsume House release date has been pegged at April 8, 2017, in Japan. The launch of the movie will start with a roadshow in Tokyo. 

The movie is being directed by the "Crossroads" fame Masatoshi Kurakata. The other case of the movie includes Tomorowo Taguchi, who is playing Sakumoto's editor; Tae Kimura, who is playing the local pet shop owner; and Kayoko Ohkubo, who is playing the character of a real estate agent.
