Premiering tonight on HBO is the documentary "Beware the Slenderman". The documentary focuses on the gruesome tale of how two 12 year old girls stabbed their friend 19 times and left her for dead all for the purpose of pleasing the fictional internet character, "Slenderman".

The HBO documentary "Beware the Slenderman" makes people remember the harrowing story of how Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier lure their friend Payton "Bella" Leutner, also a 12 year old girl, into the woods where they intended to kill her. For quite some time, the story of the "Slenderman" case was focused on how Bella managed to survive after being stabbed 19 times, how she crawled to the side of the road to call for help and how she was betrayed by her two best friends.

Time recounts how Geyser felt after doing the horrible act, Geyser reportedly told police that she didn't want to do it and that she was afraid of what might happen if she didn't. For Weier, she narrated to the police how she remembered that it would be easier to kill someone while they are unconscious or asleep.

According to GQ, as the story of the gruesome event unfolded the two girls were branded by the media as monsters. Morgan Geyser was said to be the embodiment of true evil while Anissa Weier was her accomplice.

HBO's "Beware the Slenderman" looks into the other side of the story. "Beware the Slenderman" director, Irene Taylor Brodsky, introduces the families of Geyser and Weier to the viewers. Instead of focusing on the events that led the media brand the kids as evil, Brodsky attempts to make people remember that Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier are still kids. Kids who were simply swayed by what they have read and genuinely scared of the things that the "Slenderman" can do.
