Experts Claim That Organic Tampons Are No Better Than Ordinary Ones

Organic tampon has recently become widely used and has been considered as a better alternative to the standard tampons. Most women prefer to pay any amount of money reasonably necessary in the quest to avoid any potential complications that could result from the use of ordinary ones - the risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS).

However, experts have noted that organic tampon offer no benefit and standard tampon does not contain any harmful chemicals that could cause TSS. They claim that no scientific evidence exists to consider them as a safer alternative despite prolific marketing tactics.

Lauren Streicher, an associate professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University, stated that they do not provide any special benefit and there is absolutely no medical reason to use organic tampons. "Your vagina does not care what type of tampon you use."

She added that there is no harm in using either of them, except one's financial ability, and the only ones women are advised to avoid are scented tampons, as they can cause severe irritation. Many are scared that using ordinary tampons will increase their risk of developing TSS, which can be critical, according to Daily Mail.

Although warnings of the potentially lethal blood infection which occurs as a result of using tampons are widespread. The infection is caused by a kind of often harmless bacteria, capable of releasing dangerous toxins if they exist deeper in the body and experts have emphasized that ordinary tampons do not account for this infection, rather, leaving them in for a long period of time is responsible.

If it is left for too long, it becomes a breeding ground for the bacteria, thus, aiding it to spread further into the body.  However, the manufacturers are not bound to disclose what these tampons are made from, nor are they independently tested, according to Celebrity Rave.

But "Tampax" has revealed that they provide a list of all the ingredients used in producing all of their products this spring. Consumers' persistent worries over harmful chemicals in ordinary tampons led firms to produce the natural versions like "A Seventh Generation," "Lola" and "The Honest Company."

Their marketing tactics however, is often, heavily based on asserting things that are not true, according to a San Francisco-based gynecologist, Jen Gunter. She added that based on strict guidelines, no poisonous substances can be found in any tampon.

Experts have argued that there is no data to show that organic tampons are any safer or if there is an advantage to any of the claims by organic tampon companies. Women are advised to turn to using menstrual cups which collect fluid so as to avoid the risk of TSS completely. There are many brands in the market including Diva Cup, Femmecup, Intimina and the Mooncup.
