Mental Health Worker Pleaded Guilty And Jailed For Having Sex With A Suicidal Patient

A mental health worker for St Ann's Hospital in Poole has been jailed for having sex with a vulnerable patient. This patient is undergoing a treatment for depression and a personality disorder after she tried to kill herself.

Andrew Harvey, who has been the mental worker, was the one who was assigned to supervise the woman patient in a trip to see her children when the offenses took last 2015 via Daily Echo. In a report given, the two arrived early and Harvey suggested to they should book a hotel room.

The woman patient who is a widow visit the website of booking.com and saw that there was a vacant room located at the Old Tea House then two had sex. According to Sadie Rizzo the one who is prosecuting at Bournemouth Crown Court, the patient victim was admitted to the hospital twice in 2015 and discovered having a sexual relationship with Harvey.

After the two had sex, Harvey threatened the woman patient not to tell anyone what was happened between them. However, the victim has been readmitted and told to one of the staffs about the incident.

Ironically, the mental worker reversed the story telling that the patient was the one who initiated to book a hotel and the patient tried to kiss him but he was the one who pushed her away. Harvey even stated that both of them just watched TV and did not have sex. However, according to the investigation, the Old Tea House doesn't have TVs in its room.

At the end of hearing Harvey, who considered to be a mental health worker was pleaded guilty for having a sexual activity with a mental patient. Report given to BBC News, Harvey was given jailed for 21 months for offending the law under Sexual Offences Act 2003.
