Some news creates surprise among the people and one such news is about the removal of a live cockroach from a woman's skull. Just a few days before this incident happened in India. The news of such rare incident has already flooded the key headlines of newspapers and magazines.

According to the Indian Express, a team of doctors in Chennai, India has successfully removed a live cockroach from the skull of a woman. This incident happened to a 42-year-old woman, named Selvi. Last week the woman felt an itchy sensation around her nose and she asked her son-in-law to take her to a nearby clinic.

The doctors at the clinic asked her to visit the Stanley Medical College Hospital. After a nasal endoscopy, the doctors finally found that a live cockroach is sitting on the skull just between the two eyes of the woman. Dr. M N Shankar, head of the ENT department in the hospital, revealed that he found such thing for the first time in his three decades of medical practice.

Dr. M N Shankar also said that the creature was big enough in size and more importantly it was alive. The crucial fact was the live cockroach was very close to the brain. The 42-year-old woman disclosed that she felt extreme pain before the doctors removed the creature.

Actually, the insect had crawled up Selvi's nose when she was sleeping. She explained that she felt a tingling and crawling sensation. She even felt a burning sensation in her eyes whenever the live cockroach moved. The Times Of India reports that she had to spend 12 hours before the doctors can finally diagnose the problem and cured it.

Doctors at the Stanley Medical College Hospital initially tried to apply a suction apparatus to remove the live cockroach, but no positive result was found as it clung to the tissues. Dr. S Muthuchitra, a doctor of the rescue team, revealed that they later used a suction and forceps to finally pull it out from the skull. The whole process lasted for 45 minutes.

The most surprising fact is the creature was very much alive even after it was removed from the skull. Doctors opine that the live cockroach could create a bigger problem if it traveled more way to create a hole in the brain, even there could be a serious infection if the insect died. The doctors are happy that the woman turned up at the right time.
