Millions of people are currently having their diet planned out. Little do they know that pasta known as carbohydrate is a better meal to be included in their diet as well.

Fortunately, Medical Daily revealed through a study the top facts that pasta is indeed worthy of being included in a person’s diet. Nutritional Strategies, Inc. was reported to study adults between ages 19 and above. The team then assessed those who eat pasta compared to those who do not according to the 2015 Dietary Guidelines and the USDA’s Healthy Eating Index.

The study then concluded that those who intake pasta have more vitamins and minerals in their body. Aside from those vitamins and minerals, folate, iron, magnesium and dietary fiber were found as well. It was also well noted that pasta lovers also have lower saturated fat and added sugar digested by their body.

With that said, Dr. Ritika Sammadar also mentioned on NDTV that as pasta had been found out to be healthy and possible to control blood sugar levels, it still depends on how a person would cook it. She then notes that pasta made from flour and white sauce to be obviously unhealthy. Sammadar then noted that every nutrient from a pasta would come from its included ingredients.

How to cook a healthy pasta was then noted by Sammadar that one must choose a whole-wheat or multigrain pasta. It was also noted that it should be paired with “fresh veggies, eggs, meat and a light zingy dressing.” After that, it was advised as well to substitute regular oil for olive oil instead.

In addition, a dietitian on Consumer Reports’ food lab, Amy Keating, R.D., also mentioned on Consumer Reports that pasta doesn’t deserve its reputation as being perceived to be fattening and unhealthy. Yet amid her statement, she stated that whole grains are still preferred to be included in a person’s diet. Rest assured, people undergoing diet and eating pasta would be the one to choose between the two leading carbohydrate foods.
