Living a healthier life doesn't need to be complicated, and the same thing goes to those who wants to have a healthier heart. In fact, some of the necessary are too basic such as not smoking, eating the right kind and amount of food, and having exercise. These may all sound common and easy but how do these really look like in real life? How are these applied by heart experts in their daily routine?

One expert advised keeping things simple. This means that rather than focusing on the intense 30-days of detoxes, she would advise her patients and friends that being healthy is seen on the daily habits. Eating healthier foods such as salads, fresh fruits and vegetables, and fish and avoiding processed ones is her key to staying healthy.

It is also beneficial for the heart if someone would "get on his/her feet." This means that instead of sitting or lying down at most times, it is advisable to get up or walk. "I find if I'm trying to keep my weight down and also keep in good cardiovascular health, the best way to do it is fast-walk, so I fast-walk for an hour on the treadmill at least five days a week, and I watch the news at the same time so I get two things done," Marc S. Eisenberg, MD, an associate clinical professor of medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University said.

Meanwhile, Health shared how being aware of heart diseases is crucial as it is the leading cause of many deaths for both men and women. Nowadays, it's not only men who are suffering from several heart conditions. The number of women suffering and dying from the heart-related disease is also increasing and the best thing to avoid making it severe or fatal is to know one's risk and treating it as early as possible.

MedlinePlus has also provided different tips on having a healthier heart and these include knowing and regulating the blood pressure, getting tested for diabetes and being aware of the cholesterol and triglyceride level and keeping them under control.
