Grammy News: Late David Bowie Grabs All 5 Awards In One Night ‘Blackstar’ Shines Bright!

Grammy awards showed the right way to honor a performer. David Bowie received 5 awards posthumously after his death last year. The courtesy to which goes to another singing star, Lady Gaga. The singer covered his hits right from "Ziggy Stardust" to "Heroes" and all in between.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Grammy awards on Sunday, honored his album, Blackstar with five awards. It won for Best Engineered Non-Classic Album, Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Performance and Best Recording Package. It was a total sweep for the 17 time nominee.

Interestingly, the late singer had only one Grammy to his name. Bowie had won for the Best Short Form Video back in 1985 for "Jazzin for Blue Jean". Along with this, he also won the Grammy Lifetime Award in 2006. Katherine McPhee and the Chainsmokers accepted the Best Rock Song Award on the late singer's behalf. "His music is forever," McPhee said.

Bowie's son Duncan Jones posted a picture of himself holding his father in arms. The picture was captioned as "So proud of you dad! Would hold you up forever." For Bowie's fans the awards not only made up for the previous 45 years, but also for the fact that he was nominated for the Best Album Of The Year category.

Saxophonist Donny McCaslin from the jazz band Bowie had brought to lead sessions for "Blackstar" said he was shocked that Bowie had own only one Grammy and that too for a video USA Today reported. He even claimed the record was extremely deep irrespective of the fact that he was involved in it. McCaslin also expressed his happiness for Bowie's family and fans after the late singer's win.

Backstage, McCaslin rubbished the rumor that Bowie recorded Blackstar as a swan song. He also confirmed to the news that Bowie didn't know he was dying. He added that they were all planning to start recording a new song in January 2016.
