The fabulous fast foods that are the favorites of the modern generation can be increasingly injurious for the skin due to the high levels of glycemic index (GI) present in the various food items.

Once the side effects of these foods wreak havoc on the skin, a minimum thirty days time is required to recover and regain the original glow and beauty of the skin, reported Cosmopolitan.

Given under are nine such food items that are detrimental according to dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, M.D, the Schweiger Dermatology Group.

1) Spaghetti and meatballs although lower in sodium content and GI levels, yet, intake of these must be checked, reported Huffington Post.

2) Fried chicken is another very pernicious food item owing to its fried nature that increases the GI levels.

3) Another extremely damaging food item is Ramen that snatches away the glow of the skin by dehydrating it although the same can be retained back within a month.

4) The accelerated levels of salt and sodium content in the French fries are catalysts for wrinkles and hence must be averted no matter how tasty those are.

5) Along with the GI levels, the chocolate blizzard shake being a dairy product, is also high in sugar content that may severely affect the skin. Moreover, the chocolate portion can even add some acne to the face.

6) The cheeseburger may taste heavenly, but the high amounts of GI levels make the skin paler than those of pizza or macaroni.

7) Mac and cheese are also destructive for the skin due to its high GI and blood sugar levels that can cause acne and breakouts.

8) The collagen fibers of the skin are needed for maintaining the glow of the face, which are depleted due to the intake of pizzas thereby making skin dull and creating wrinkles.

9) Above all, Burrito is the deadliest of the lot having all the degrading factors like high GI and blood sugar levels causing malfunctioning of the hormones leading to severe modification of the oil content of the skin thereby causing acne along with corresponding dehydration of the skin as well.

These are just handful items to take care of, but it is wise to start with avoiding at least these items first for nurturing skin.
