‘Goblin’ Season 2 Not Happening: ‘Train to Busan’ Actor Gong Yoo Confirmed Amid 15 Countries ‘Fan Meeting’ Invites

TvN’s “Goblin” or as some know it under the English title, "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" left fans wanting for more as its last episode aired last Jan. 21, 2017. Sadly, Goblin warrior Kim Shin himself played by Gong Yoo confirmed on Twitter that there would be no more of the beloved fantasy drama.

According to All Kpop, Gong Yoo mentioned on the last days of the “Goblin” taping that he has some regret since he chose the role after a lot of thinking. Yet amid that thought, he still thanks everyone for their support. The “Coffee Prince” actor also then stated that the fact that it is ending, he feels both relieved and disappointed. “But at the same time, I'm very very happy that it is ending today. I feel like I know [how I feel], but I don't” he added.

With that said, after 16 episodes, “Goblin” finale ended with a cliffhanger for some fans. In which the ending showed Kim Shin continuing his immortal life and still waits for his bride, Ji Eun Tak’s reincarnation. The finale then ended with the two couple reuniting in Quebec, Canada.

Korea Portal reported that some fans still speculate that “Goblin” might have a Season 2 based on the ending. Yet, the “Big” actor had tweeted that sadly those rumors aren’t true and the K-drama wouldn’t have another season. He then added to his tweet that "some stories are always better to end as it is." Gong Yoo then tweeted that amid the revelation, “Goblin” fans could still anticipate their series writer, Kim Eun-sook’s fantasy works in the future.

Nonetheless, despite “Goblin” ending, actor Gong Yoo was reported by Soompi to be courted by countries all over the world for a “fan meeting event.” Specifically, 15 countries had invited “The Suspect” actor including China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, United States, Canada, and Australia. Gong Yoo’s name became big enough to capture everyone’s, heart. Yet, no confirmation from the “Yakuza” actor has been received regarding these countries invites.
