'Superstore' All Set For Season 3 With A Huge Surprise: From 13, NBC Had Ordered 9 More Episodes

"Superstore" fans, rejoice! The American comedy sitcom is staying put at NBC as the network has given out a renewal ordering a massive 22-episodes. This has been confirmed by the network itself as it announced its 2017-2018 season last Tuesday afternoon.

"We are extremely proud of Superstore, which is one of the smartest and funniest comedies on television today," Jennifer Salke, the NBC Entertainment president said in a statement. "Through the show's expertly drawn characters, our producers and cast do a remarkable job touching on many issues in which audiences can relate. To its credit, not only does Superstore make us laugh, but it makes us think as well."

The single-camera sitcom TV series started on Nov. 2015 and it focuses on a group of a Wal-Mart-like store and its employees, setting in St. Louis. The beloved comedy show was created by the writer and co-producer of "The Office" Justin Spitzer and executive producers Ruben Fleischer, Jonathan Green, David Bernad and Gabe Miller.

Superstore is one of the hit series in NBC and it was proven even in its first season. In fact, aside from "The Carmichael Show", it's just one of the two network's shows who made a successful comeback at the network for the 2016 - 2017 season. As for its second season, the show has the advantage of airing a special episode amid the Summer Olympics happening in August - an episode that garnered over 9 million viewers, according to Hollywood Reporter. So far, Superstore has an average of 1.8 demo rating among adults.

Originally, the network only picked 13-episode for the "Superstore", however, NBC added nine more way back in September. According to Variety, this is not a surprise anymore as "Superstore" is one the NBC execs' favorites. A true solid performer, the show was able to lift the network by 29%.

Apart from the incredible rating, "Superstore" has also proven to be a strong digital performer as it ranked as one of NBC's top shows in Hulu, NBC.com, and on-demand.
