The SnowEx project of NASA tries to predict the snow water levels as a part to identify the water level of the world. This project can address many important issues.

A new study by NASA entitled "Got Snow" reported the importance of the snow water and the SnowEx project. A huge number of people on Earth depend on snow as their key source of water. Now the decreasing amount of snow is a great cause of panic for them.

Last fifty years Northern Hemisphere has lost a million square miles snow cover. California is a good example that depicts the need of the snow water. The agricultural industry of California heavily depends on snowmelt, and the SnowEx project can help it to survive and develop in the future times.

Currently, people's dubious mentality on forecasting water level creates a grim condition in California. To get the actual information about the snow water level scientists need to identify several facts like the variety and quality of the snow. NASA's SnowEx project can answer all these queries including the exact time frame of the snow staying on the ground.

NASA reported that the SnowEx project will avail the remote sensing techniques to measure the amount of water under the snow-covered regions. SWE or snow-water equivalent will also be measured by this project. SWE indicates the actual amount of water in a snow pack.

It is difficult to measure the snow-water equivalent or SWE in the forested areas. The ground method also can't provide accurate information, so the SnowEx project is using the latest remote sensing techniques. NASA is using all possible remote sensing technologies to measure the SWE.

Infrared, LiDAR, imaging spectrometers and microwaves are the most available remote sensing techniques. The U.S. Navy's Research Laboratory P-3 Orion aircraft is helping the SnowEx project team to research on the forested regions. Apart from this airborne research, another team of this project is searching on the ground of snow packed Grand Mesa, Colorado to identify snow water.

Grand Mesa is a suitable place to conduct several research studies. Ed Kim, the scientist of the SnowEx project, has uttered that this place is ideal with its versatile characters. The search for the snow water is a great idea and the success of this project will bring positive effects.

The SnowEx project will provide a strong satellite technology that can easily measure the amount of water in a snow packed area. That means people can now understand the amount of snow water of that area. This process helps a huge number of people involved in various essential works.
