Apple had been alongside Microsoft on building powerhouse MacBook desktops for tech consumers. But as Microsoft’s Surface Studio surfaced, Apple had yet to compete with it once again. With its iMac 2017 rumors leaked, the competition is set to be heated up indeed.

According to  PC Advisor, the iMac 2017 would sport a 27-inch 5K display. It was also speculated that a dynamic 32GB of RAM and a 2TB Fusion Drive would be integrated into the desktop as well. In terms of price, Best Buy accidentally leaked an iMac 2017 that costs $3,199. The list was taken down immediately as reported.

Apple’s iMac 2017 is expected to run on the just released Intel Kaby Lake processors. However, as AMD Ryzen Chips began to be launched, rumors had it that it would be much better for the iMac 2017. AMD Ryzen GPU was mentioned to be much better because of the shown better performance over Intel’s i7 processors. Ryzen’s power-efficient capability was given points as well.

Macworld then mentioned as well that Oculus founder Palmer Luckey said that Macs have underpowered GPU which makes their company unable to support Mac desktops. Yet, AMD’s Roy Taylor said that a Polaris 10 could support minimum spec requirement for VRs with consuming less power that runs faster.

So, amid contradiction on processors rumors, it was reported that if iMac 2017 chooses Intel Kaby Lake as processors, chances are AMD processors would still be used as its graphics chip. AMD’s Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 is then said to be donned as the desktop’s graphic processors since it is best in supporting VR.

The Verge then noted Apple’s CEO Tim Cook’s interview to hint as what could be specs of the upcoming iMac 2017. “The current generation iMac is the best desktop we have ever made and its beautiful Retina 5K display is the best desktop display in the world” Cook stated. It was then identified that iMac 2017 would still have a 5K Retina display.
