Blizzard Entertainment announced Sunday, March 26 the summer arrival of “Starcraft: Remastered.” Fans are expected to welcome an absolute graphical recondition of the original game and a new patch, "StarCraft: Brood War.”

"StarCraft remains very popular, especially in Korea. It’s doing so despite legacy Battle.net’s aging infrastructure, and from the client perspective, graphics, compatibility, and online features that are not up to modern standards," Pete Stilwell, the Classic Games senior producer said.

According to PC Gamer, “Starcraft: Remastered” will feature 4K graphics and 1080p cinematics, improved audio and new comic-book-style mission interludes and introductions. However, the gameplay and stability will be definitely preserved from the originals.

Furthermore, "StarCraft: Remastered" will also provide connectivity to the game. This includes a complete Battle.net (now Blizzard App) assistance for matchmaking and chat, improved ladder performance, back-up for friends' registers, streaming and cloud saves.

In the new matchmaking feature, players will be instantly connected to their corresponding ability based on the race they picked. The improved graphics, fresh amenities, and other new features of the "StarCraft: Remastered" didn't affect the gameplay.

Repeats from 1.16 still function in "StarCraft: Remastered," Stilwell said. In fact, gamers could even play in the original IGR or explore the beginning of war for the Koprulu sector.

Aside from the "StarCraft: Remastered," Blizzard also announced that "StarCraft: Brood War" will get its 1.18 version update late of March, IGN reported. The expansion revamp will include bug fixes, rebind keys skills, observer mode, “modern anti-cheat measures,” and more.

The "StarCraft Anthology" including the original game and “StarCraft: Brood War" will be free after the update. But Blizzard made it clear that it’s not free-to-play.

"StarCraft: Remastered" will not be free, but it will be suitable for multiplayer mode alongside the original. This means that players can grab an update any time without missing their development in the game or any multiplayer fellows.
