T-Mobile announced an Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC One M8. The company's official support site also revealed that the carrier already finished testing the update for the device.

HTC One M8 was released originally with Android KitKat OS making it as the best device at that time but eventually upgraded to Android Marshmallow. According to Phonearena, T-Mobile and other United States carriers fitted in Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the handset in 2016. As a result, users think that they couldn't get any more a Nougat update.

The device is now three years old since its March 2014 release so this is really a big surprise for users, Android Headlines reported. HTC previously revealed that HTC One M9, HTC 10, and the HTC One A9 will be getting the update. It doesn’t even mention that HTC One M8 is included in the major software revamp.

However, an unexpected announcement from T-Mobile was dropped. The company updated its official page on Mar. 24. It notifies HTC One M8 smartphone users that the Android 7.0 Nougat update is ready to be downloaded.

T-Mobile is considering the Android 7.0 Nougat as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Therefore, users should wait for a notification from HTC One M8 indicating that they can now download the update. Nevertheless, they can also visit Settings app of the device to check whether the update is already available or not.

Users couldn’t imagine that HTC One M8 would still be getting a major software update like Android 7.0 Nougat considering its old age. It's good to hear that HTC is supporting the device even until now.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile, which is the third largest wireless carrier in the United States, released the Android 7.0 update for the HTC One M9 last week. The HTC 10, on the other hand, already got the update in January.
