For years, various studies have gone online as an effort to explain why the eldest kids are usually smarter than the younger ones. But according to The Atlantic, the latest study reveals things simply that it is largely due to the parents.

Numerous data were analyzed that led to the discovery that the parents tend to make things easier on their kids that were born on a later date and tend to be stricter on their eldest. International surveys also add up as proof that the first borns were the ones who do better in the world with higher IQ levels and even grow up as responsible and ideal parents.

Another article from iVillage Canada also shared revealing discoveries about the difference of the older kids from the younger ones. Kathy Ehrich Dowd mentioned that the younger kids tend to be more empathetic instead hence making them a lot funnier as their way of coping up with being the smaller one all the time. The older kids should also be keen in modeling proper behavior patterns with younger siblings copying what the firstborns do.

Daily Mail UK adds to the findings that while the oldest may be the smartest and the youngest the funniest, the middle borns are the ones who tend to be a bit more rebellious and impulsive in trying out new things.

Another article posted at Yahoo Voices added a good point that the number of finances allotted for the kids may also be a great factor. With the family growing bigger, the budget of the family tend to lessen for each child and most commonly, the first borns are the ones who get more out of the finances.

Many readers may disagree with these studies but it can help for the younger siblings of the family to use this as a challenge and motivation to do as good as the eldest ones.
