For as long as man has roamed the Earth, there has been a hard and fast rule: you can't control time. It is what it is, and you simply have to go with the flow of it because you can't quite seem to bend it. And for eons that rule has stayed true... at least until this morning.

Releasing their new affiliate application "Hyperlapse", made available on the iOS Itunes market this morning Aug. 26 at 10am, Instagram has given iPhone users the ability to control the flow of time on their own terms.

Drawing inspiration from the complex time-lapse videos created by series of hundreds of photos taken from one focal perspective, like that of changing seasons, Hyperlapse is an application made for cinematography on-the-go. Relinquishing the time-lapse concept from the stationary affair it once was, and detaching the tripods you once needed, the new Instagram affiliate application is using available features built into mobile devices to create stunning videos of the world and changes we see.

The free application currently available on the Itunes marketplace, Hyperlapse is a video creation application designed with simplicity in mind rather than social sharing. Though the easy interface, that allows you to speed up to 45 minutes of video to 12x that of the original time, has built-in sharing capability currently with Facebook and Instagram only.

Designed with the iPhone originally in mind, as Instagram did when it began in October of 2010, Hyperlapse's key feature is a stabilization engine that makes use of built-in gyroscope function in iPhones. The stabilization engine that functions on the gyroscope allows the cinematographer on-the-go the opportunity to shoot without images shaking or blurring during a dynamic video shot. So whether you're diving off of a cliff, driving with your head out the window, or even coming down the side of a mountain in rocky terrain you can create a time-lapse video that is as clear as it is stunning.

"From documenting your whole commute in seconds or preparing your dinner from start to finish, to capturing an entire sunset as it unfolds, we're thrilled about the creative possibilities Hyperlapse unlocks" Instagram said in its debut post for Hyperlapse this morning. "We can't wait to see what you'll create."

Instagram reports that while the designers develop a functioning software algorithm compatible with the wide array of Android products, the application will only be available to iPhone users, however, Android and Windows versions are expected to be available in the coming months. So if you're an iPhone user, start creating, because you're one step ahead of the game!
