Frozen fans have surely been in the lookout for updates on the show, hoping and expecting that a sequel is already on the works after the movie's unprecedented success worldwide.

The movie's producers have been mum on the topic, though there have been some teasers here and there, suggesting the possibility of yet another "Frozen" show.

This was so until lately, Disney has confirmed that there will be another "Frozen" film in the works, but contrary to what many have been expecting, what is to be released is a short film entitled "Frozen Fever", which will feature a new song from "Let It Go" hit duo Robert and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

The synopsis of the film reads: "It's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."

The short film will debut in Spring 2015, and will be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and produced by Peter Del Vecho.

Aside from the short film, Disney also confirmed that there will be a Broadway show for "Frozen", and "Once Upon A Time" will feature Arendelle and the characters of the hit animated film in its current season.

In the meantime, there are news circulating that Disney is developing four Frozen-themed sequel novels. Two titles have been drafted, namely Anna and Elsa: All Hail the Queen; and Anna and Elsa: Memory and Magic. The other two are still on the works.

After its release, Frozen has been named one of the most successful animated movies in history, with over $1.2 billion in earnings. But just like its similarly-successful Disney cousins "Beauty and the Beast", "Little Mermaid", etc. which waited for years before another sequel went out, Frozen may have the same fate as the film's producers seem to have no plans of developing another full-length sequel in the soonest time.

In an interview, Disney CEO Bob Iger said he understands why the filmmakers aren't rushing into making Frozen 2. "In order to make the perfect movie sequel, the filmmakers have to write the perfect follow-up story for it. Otherwise, Frozen won't be as good anymore and that would surely disappoint everyone," he explained.

Still, fans should not despair because even without the sequel, they will still be able to see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and other familiar characters in "Frozen Fever", plus the Broadway show and the novels will definitely come in handy.
