There's nothing better than a cold bottle of beer when you're relaxing. According to Mayo Clinic, there are a lot of health benefits to be had when you drink beer, but moderate consumption is key.

Beer is low in carbohydrates, cholesterol-free, and fat-free. It is made from barley, wheat, and hops and contains the same nutrients in grains, such as riboflavin, niacin, zinc, and B vitamins. Beer also contains antioxidants and soluble fiber, notes Best Health Mag.

If you are not yet convinced, here are seven reasons why you should drink beer moderately:

1.) Beer for Stronger Bones

According to a National Institutes of Health study, beer is high in bone-boosting silicon or orthosilicic acid (OSA). This is essential to the development and growth of bone and connective tissues that can also prevent osteoporosis, notes WebMD.

2.) Beer is Heart-Healthy

Based on a study made by Israeli researchers, Science Daily shows that moderate beer consumption reduces the risk of heart attack. The blood of the participants who drank beer also showed increased antioxidants, decreased cholesterol levels, and reduced levels of a clot-producing protein called fibrinogen.

3.) Beer Boosts Memory

A key ingredient found in beer called xanthohumol can improve memory, according to a study published in Behavioral Brain Research. The flavonoid is derived from the hop plant; an ingredient used in brewing beer can slow down the disintegration process of memory in both humans and animals, as reported in Tech Times.

4.) Beer is Good for Digestion

According to Dr. Erik Skovenborg in an article for Aim-Digest.com, beer contains hops that contain bitter compounds that can stimulate the digestive tract. In addition, beer can improve appetite, aid in digestion, reduce stomach ulcers, and promote the secretion of gastric juices.

5.) Beer Keeps the Kidneys Healthy

Men who drank beer had 40 percent lower risk of getting kidney stones than those who drank other types of alcoholic beverage, according to Finnish Researchers in an article in Everyday Health. Hops, an ingredient in beer, was said to also prevent kidney stones from forming as it slows down the release of calcium from the bones.

6.) Beer Lowers Diabetes Risk

A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology showed that moderate beer consumption can lower the risk of getting Type 2 Diabetes, according to an article in Men's Health.

7.) Beer is Good For The Skin

Beer sediment or brewer's yeast can help reduce acne and maintain a balanced pH level in the skin, notes a review in Truth in Aging. Brewer's yeast is an inactive leavening agent in beer that can kill off acne-producing bacteria and reduce acne scars within three weeks, according to a 2006 Munich University Study.
