A baby food product has been recalled due to possible contamination of its glass. According to Time, over 1,920 pounds of Beech-Nut baby food were recalled after a consumer "reported a small piece of glass in their baby food." The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) stated that the same customer also reported an oral injury presumably due to the glass found.

The USDA included pictures of the labels that can be seen on the recalled product, which can be viewed here. The site adds that the products recalled were 4-oz. glass jars containing "Stage 2 Beech-Nut CLASSICS sweet potato & chicken."

The International Business Times reports that the products hold the establishment number P-68A and have an expiration date of December 2016. The affected jars have product numbers ranging from 12395750815 through 12395750821.

Refunds or free replacements will be available for consumers who bought the Beech-Nut products, reports IBT. Call the company at 866-647-4446 to get the refund or replacements, the report adds. Consumers can also return the product to the store where they purchased the baby food for a refund or replacement.

According to IBT, the Beech-Nut baby food product was labeled a Class I recall by the USDA. Products with a Class I label are described as "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

On the official Beech-Nut webpage, the company states, "At Beech-Nut, we strive to make baby food with the best ingredients nature has to offer - freshly prepared and packages in clean, safe and environmentally-friendly packaging. So, when any product of ours falls short of those standards, we take swift action to correct it."

It seems that the company follows through with their word as the statement adds, "We have initiated a voluntary recall for our Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken following a single report of a small glass piece found in a jar of the product."

The Beech-Nut goes on to say, "Outside of this single report, we have no indication that any other jar of our Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken is affected, but as a company of parents and families we are acting with an abundance of caution."

The Beech-Nut company website advises parents to seek professional medical guidance if their baby has eaten the affected product. It also recommends returning the recalled baby-food products to get a full-refund or replacement; rather than throwing the products away.
