Sleeping in your birthday suit isn't for everyone but according to science, skipping the jammies may lead to optimal sleep.

According to a new report by Glamour, The National Sleep Foundation revealed that the ideal temperature for a good sleep is about 65 degrees and sporting sleep wear may impeded the body's auto-regulation to achieve the ideal temperature.

"When your temperature rises, your body produces sweat that is meant to cool you down as it evaporates off your skin. If pajamas keep you too warm, you might find yourself damp and uncomfortable," wrote the literature. Wearing clothes while sleeping and finding yourself too hot is definitely an impediment to sound sleep.

Temperature is also the culprit when it comes to feeling sleepy as thermo-regulation is a key factor when it comes to sleeping. Sleeping naked can help your body maintain its coolness.

In addition, sleeping in the buff can also reap benefits for your relationship. Fran Walfish, Psy.D., has explained that the physical contact allows couples to feel more connected. When you and your partner both sleep naked, the skin-to-skin contact will release the feel-good hormone [oxytocin]."
