American Honey Movie Release Date & Cast News: Shia LaBeouf Suffers Head Injury on Set

Actor Shia LaBeouf sustained a head injury while filming a stunt on the set of his new movie, "American Honey."

Actor Shia LaBeouf received 20 stitches and 13 staples after he was rushed to the hospital for a head and hand injury he obtained while performing  a stunt for his new movie, "American Honey," according to gossip site TMZ. The stunt involved the actor putting his head through a glass window. LaBeouf has been released from the hospital and will resume filming on Thursday.

The actor's rep, Melissa Kates confirms the incident that happened on Tuesday night.

"Shia LaBeouf sustained minimal injuries late last night on the set of his current film, American Honey," Kates said in a statement, as per USA Today. "As protocol, production sought out medical attention and Shia received stitches on his hand and for a laceration on his head. He is due back on set tomorrow."

"American Honey" is a drama road movie about a teenage girl traveling to the Midwest. The film is written and directed by Andrea Arnold, an Oscar-winning English filmmaker and former actress, according to Empire Online.

Shia is playing the starring role Fury, a traveling magazine peddler alongside Arielle Holmes. Other stars in the movie include McCaul Lombardi, Susan Dooling, according to IMDB. The movie is set to be released on Oct. 29, 2015.

Just last month, after Shia LaBeouf was in a video of him giving "the most intense motivational speech of all-time," a 3-year-old recreated Shia's speech.

The spoof video was uploaded by YouTube user Tingman and was starred by his 3-year-old daughter named Olor, according to Perez Hilton.

Shia LaBeouf, 29, was born on June 11, 1986 in Los Angeles, Calif., and first got his acting gig as Louis Stevens in the Disney Channel comedy series "Even Stevens." He received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series in 2003 for playing the role.

LaBeouf is best known for his role in the huge film franchise directed by Michael Bay, "Transformers," an adaptation of the children's cartoon series. Despite varying reviews, it is considered to be one of the highest grossing films in 2007. He also appeared in its sequels, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," according to Biography.com.
