The legacy lives on as Paul Walker's younger brother, Cody, landed his first major movie supporting role with Nicolas Cage.

The late Paul Walker's brother, Cody Walker, 27, got himself a film role as an actor on his own right. According to Mirror, movie producers Rionda Del Castro and Michael Mendelsohn asked Cody to step in for his brother in the film after "Furious 7" star Paul tragically lost his life in a car crash in 2013.

According to Variety, Cody will star with Nicolas Cage in "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage," a movie based on a true story set during World War II. The film will be released on the Memorial Day Weekend next year. Joining Walker and Cage are Tom Sizemore, Matt Lanter, Brian Presley and Thomas Jane.

According to the magazine, Cage will be playing as the captain of USS Indianapolis, Charles Butler McVay. The ship was sent on a classified mission to deliver some parts of atomic bombs when it was shot at by torpedoes and sunk in July 1945 somewhere in the South Pacific.

Walker will be playing one of the ship's crew. However, in the report by Mirror, it is not clear if he will be part of the surviving crewmen who are afloat a few lifeboats. In more than a thousand ship crew, only around 300 survived as many died by exposure, saltwater poisoning, shark attacks and dehydration.

Daily Mail reports that the filming has already begun in Alabama. Walker has been keen in sharing about his work and experiences on the set, which had included an impressive photo of the replicated heavy cruiser.

A few months before the premiere of "Furious 7," Cody shared to E! Online that he was nervous about the film.

"To be honest, I'm a little nervous to see the completed project from an emotional standpoint," Cody said. He and his other brother Caleb Walker were used as a stand-in and body double in the film shortly after Paul's car crash tragedy.

Walker told the news site that he hasn't seen the full movie but has only seen "bits and pieces" of it.

"We'll be watching it for the first time [Wednesday] at the world premiere. I know it's going to be very emotional. So far, from what I've heard and seen, I think Paul would be proud," Cody explained.  "I want this film to be the best one yet-and the most memorable. A lot of people are going to remember Paul by this movie, and I want it to be worthy."
