As news that Microsoft is working on the Surface Pro 4 hits consumers, rumors about the possible specs and features of the tablet laptop hybrid are already spreading.

Check out the latest gossip on the Surface Pro 4 below.

1. Skylake CPU

Through a blog post for Petri, Paul Thurrot, a Windows expert, notes that the new Surface Pro 4 will have Intel's Skylake CPU. Alphr supports Thurrot's prediction about the Skylake chipset, adding that it consumes less power and is to be released at the end of 2015.

In addition, Alphr speculates that Microsoft will not be placing the Haswell dual-core i5 or the i7 Intel processors to the Pro 4.

In terms of CPU, however, Tech Radar believes the perfect match for the Surface Pro 4 would be the Intel Core M 5Y70.

2. Storage Options

According to Tech Radar, the Surface Pro 4 may share the same storage variants as its predecessor at 64GB, which can be increased to either 128GB, 256GB, or 500GB.

It is also speculated that Mircosoft will release a 1TB version of the hybrid, reports PC Advisor.

Sources from Microsoft's supply chain have also told Digitimes that the company placed an order to Samsung for 256GB SSDs.

3. More powerful fanless tablet

Meanwhile, 36KR, a Chinese publication, says Microsoft will make the Pro 4 more powerful by placing Intel's Broadwell chip, instead. In addition, the Asian publication adds that Microsoft will not be placing a fan in the tablet, but rather, several small holes in the casing for heat radiation and dissipation.

A fanless tablet will allow the developers to create a thinner and quieter device, while maintaining a 12-inch 2,160 x 1,440 pixel resolution display.

4. Facial Recognition

Windows Hello, Microsoft's latest facial recognition program, will probably be featured in the Surface Pro 4, states PC World.

5: Stylus Pen

The Surface Pro 4 will have an updated stylus pen, due to the company's recent acquisition of N-Trig, the Israel-based company responsible for the pressure-sensitive pen seen in the SP3, Tech Radar adds. It has been confirmed that Microsoft bought N-Trig for $200 million.

N-Trig's purchase supports rumors that the SP4 will have a new Edge browser embedded with handwriting functionality.
