Floyd Mayweather Next Fight: Not vs Manny Pacquiao But Andre Berto

It seems that Floyd Mayweather really wishes to match Rocky Marciano's historic 49-0 record as the boxer is set to fight Andre Berto for his final Showtime fight.

Mayweather has taken to Instagram the announcement of his fight to Berto last Tuesday and the boxer is confident that he will once again prove to the world that he is the best fighter ever, writes TIME Magazine. The welterweight champion remains undefeated with a record of 48 wins and 26 knockouts while his opponent Berto has a record of 30 wins, 3 losses and 26 knockouts.

However, not everyone is happy and excited with his decision. USA Today reports that even though Berto has a record of 30-0, the former WBC and IBF welterweight champion is nowhere near Mayweather's caliber. His last win has been over Josesito Lopez in March but Berto has lost most of his eight fights after. Many believe that in case Lopez wins, it will mark the biggest upset in the history of boxing ever.

Experts believe that with his win over Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather has started to unashamedly begin picking easy contenders to avoid any challenges that can hinder his plans to remain undefeated. Fans believe that he could have at least taken opponents who can prove that they can be a match, like Gennady Golovkin or Amir Khan, or he could have taken the rematch route with Miguel Cotto or Canelo Alvarez.

The Boxing Junkie reveals that Berto is not losing faith even when the odds are against him. On his Twitter page, the boxer announced, "Promise you this, I'm gonna be as ready as I've ever been. Don't act surprised on 9/12."

Many fans are hoping that the boxer will put his final fight on CBS for free TV after the Mayweather-Pacquaio disappointment. It is still something to look forward to as the fight begins September 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Las Vegas.
