'Sherlock' Season 4 Cast Update: Benedict Cumberbatch Mortified by Fans Filming 'Hamlet'

While rumors of the early demise of Sherlock are still in the air, show runner Steven Moffat claims that fans shouldn't be discouraged as the series will continue showing as long as its leads, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, are willing to continue with the project. And speaking of Cumberbatch, it looks like there is indeed one thing he wishes his fans would stop doing--filming the stage play "Hamlet."

BBC writes that the British actor has pleaded with his fans not to videotape his performance of Hamlet in the Barbican theater. He has told off several supporters outside the theater about cameras and red lights he has seen in the audience. Although he is not accusing anyone in the crowd, he still wishes to impart to his fans a fantastic performance that they will remember in their memories and not on their phones. He said the mortifying act is very unsupportive of the actor.

Cumberbatch stars in the 12-week run of Shakespeare's Hamlet, and the tickets have sold like hot pancakes the minute they were released August last year. Most sites have also tried selling the tickets up to £650.

The Daily Mail UK adds that the actor has been greatly irked during the performance after several technical glitches have occurred. Cumberbatch has been heard using the "f word" when a trap door didn't budge and has been heard venting about him restarting his "to be or not to be" line when the curtain came down early.

The Sherlock star been further dismayed with the turn of events after several cameras began filming his live performance on stage. He he has told the crowd after his performance that people caught doing illegal filming of the play will be thrown out.

International Business Times reports that the actor has thanked his audience outside the theater before his rant. He has requested everyone to use social media to make everyone aware of how distracting filming a live performance can be, especially when theater rules have already stated the ban on filming.

Cumberbatch's performance as Hamlet has been praised and tagged by fans as supreme and electrifying, making it one of the must-see plays of the year.
