Apple will release an iPhone 6C with the 6S or the 6S Plus versions. According to Forbes, Apple has invited several media outfits to attend an event they will be hosting on Sept. 9 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

Keeping up with past release date patterns, most sources believe that the iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus will be released at the event. There will be no 6C launched, however, as Apple seems to have given up on the cheaper more affordable iPhone version, reports University Herald.

According to 9to5, Apple has decided to discontinue the C series, since the iPhone 5C did not sell well. However, the company is working on a different version of the iPhone, that Apple lovers might take a liking to, states The Verge.

With the C series scratched, Apple is planning a different design, in an effort to try and attract potential buyers. According to The Verge, this new design will have the same display size as the iPhone 5, 5S, and 5C; but the internals will match that of the iPhone 6.

In other Apple news, 9To5 states that the new iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus will come in an additional color, besides Space Gray, Silver, and the unbelievably expensive 18-karat gold edition.

The latest iPhones will also come in Rose Gold. It would seem that this particular color was chosen to match the two gold shades of the Apple Watch.

Fortunately, the Rose Gold version is not made of pure gold, but aluminum, reports the Verge. So, the new color addition to the iPhone line will not be as expensive as the Gold version.

Unfortunately, for those looking for extra screen protection, Apple decided against using a sapphire crystal screen cover. Instead, the 6S and the 6S Plus will be outfitted with screens made of ionized glass, like their predecessors.

In addition, the new iPhones will come with Force Touch display, which was first seen on MacBook touchpads back in April. On the Macbook, the Force Touch works as short cuts for several iOS features. However, on the iPhone, it will serve as an additional menu of buttons.

Nothing about the latest iPhones can be confirmed however, until Sept. 9. Although, despite the excitement for the new iPhones, Forbes predicts that the event will focus more on Apple's other products.

Forbes believes that the event will usher in the long-awaited introduction of the AppleTV, which is speculated to run on voice control, powered by Siri. In conjunction with Apple iTelevision, the company will also probably launch the Apple HomeKit.

Forbes explains that the HomeKit is a system that will allow users to control several of their devices at home, like their TV, through their Apple devices.
