Nicki Minaj targets host Miley Cyrus at the 2015 VMAs, after receiving the Moonman award for Best Hip-Hop Video for "Anaconda," states Music Times. Most people were flustered and probably felt a bit awkward after Minaj called out Cyrus in an audience with many popular music stars.

According to Rumor Fix, Minaj ended her award-winning speech on a bad note, saying:

"And now...back to this b***ch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?"

The host of the VMAs retorted back, bravely answering Minaj: "Hey, we are all in this industry and we all do interviews. We all know how they manipulate." She even had the courage to congratulate Nicki on her award.

Most viewers might think that Miley put on a brave face and daringly answered Nicki back on live television. However, Miley's initial reaction to Nicki's comment was caught on video and revealed the opposite.

In the video, Miley's shocked face can clearly be seen, some might even say that there is a hint of fear on the pop star's expression.

Some people believe that it was staged, since the VMAs have always been filled with surprises. However, MTV has confirmed that Minaj's outburst was not scripted at all.

In fact, and inside source tells Us Weekly that the backstage coordinators had tried their best to keep the two stars away from each other, after seeing that Minaj was legitimately upset.

The whole exchange took place in seconds, too fast for anyone to really stop it. However, it made everyone a little nervous for the rest of the show.

Boston.com explains that the source of Minaj's anger was Cyrus' recent interview with the Times. During the interview, Cyrus was asked about the feud between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, which was big news at the time.

"If you want to make it about race, there's a way you could do that. But don't make it just about yourself," said Cyrus.

"Say: 'This is the reason why I think it's important to nominated. There's girls everywhere with this body type,'" Miley advises Nicki Minaj.

The "Wrecking Ball" even describes Minaj as "not too kind" or even polite. She goes on to advise the "Anaconda" songstress to "speak to people with openness and love."

Seeing that Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift actually performed together at the VMAs, it is possible that Minaj took Miley's advise to heart. However, Nicki clearly did not take too kindly Cyrus' comment.
