'Under the Dome' series finale release date & spoilers: 3 possible endings for its final season this September

The finale for Season 3 of "Under The Dome" will be on Sept. 10. Will the mysteries and origins of the dome be revealed?

According to Variety, "Under the Dome," which is based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, will not be renewed for season 4.

"Two years ago, 'Under the Dome' broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world," said to Chairman Nina Tassler of CBS Entertainment, according to the report by The International Business Times.

"Dome's event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of Extant and Zoo"

In the same report, it was revealed that while the first season of the show which first aired in June 2013 was highly successful with millions of audience, the third season only managed to get by.

The official title of the episode 13 finale is "The Enemy Within." It will be shown on Sept. 10.

The official synopsis reads: "As the Dome in Chester's Mill comes down, the Resistance makes a final attempt to protect the outside world from the infected townspeople in the Kinship and their new queen, on the third season finale of Under The Dome."

Here are the three possible endings of the show:

1.) The dome will come down and there will be chaos.

Tassler revealed that the finale of "Under the Dome" Season 3 might not be under the dome anymore.

"The dome is coming down at the end of the season," Tassler said, according to the report by Entertainment Weekly.  The spoiler was unveiled during the press conference for the show at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour.

"[The dome coming down] opens up a host of other storytelling opportunities, you just don't know what will happen when the dome comes down," Tassler succinctly explained.

2.) Major character death

With the dome coming down, conflicts will rise. It is expected that there will be deaths among the characters. According to Yibada, the season finale will have one major character death.

3.) Surprising twist

Although one of the big bosses of CBS revealed that questions will be answered in the finale, they did not say. however, that the finale will provide closure.

Before the news of the cancellation was announced, executive producer Tim Schlattman told Buddy TV: "We are answering all the questions ... by the end of the season."

However, Schlattman said: "I usually don't use this language ... but things are gonna get bananas." This suggests that while questions about the dome and its residents will get answered, some mysteries may remain unsolved.
