Kids from the '90s will be happy to hear that their favorite Nickelodeon cartoons, famously known as Nicktoons, as well as some of its live TV shows, will be put back on the air.

According to Variety, the Viacom-owned network is dusting off some of its more classic programs and sifting through the ones fans have been begging to return.

Russell Hicks, president of content and development at Nickelodeon, told Variety:

"We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way...We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones [older fans have] have told us multiple times they want to have brought back."

Hicks' also explained that the shows will be geared towards kids from the 90s and their children as well. By now, the new generation has probably grown up listening to their parents talk about shows like "Rugrats" or "Hey Arnold!"

While the news of a reboot sounds fantastic, there is one bit of information fans might not like: the shows will not come back in its original format, reports Screen Rant.

Hicks said: "The shows might not come back as series, but could appear in other formats, like a movie or special. And they likely would not constitute the bulk of the network's development efforts."

The fact that the classic shows might not be fully revived might dampen the spirits of fans from the 90s. News that the development team will not be putting all their efforts into the revivals of these beloved classics is most likely disappointing to fans as well.

Variety suggests remaking iconic cartoons and shows like "Doug" or "Clarissa" with a modern twist.

For instance, s"Doug" could tackle how social networks and mobile devices have changed the way teens interact and communicate with each other. In addition, the character Roger Klotz could offer a modern talk on bullying and how to deal with bullies.

On the other hand, "Clarissa," starring Melissa Joan Hart, has always attracted teen viewers. The revamped version could possibly show Clarissa playing the mom, while a new actress shows drama and despair of a teen's life.

Meanwhile, E! Online  suggests rebooting other classics without modifying a thing. The list of classics include: "All That," "Rocko's Modern Life," "Are Your Afraid of the Dark," and "Aaahh!! Real Monsters."
