Sometimes work or school can get in the way of our body getting proper nutrition, but this doesn't mean it's okay to eat out on anything irresponsibly.

Convenient restaurants and fast food places can be a good thing if you know what foods you should eat and what to stay away from. If you're doing well on your health and fitness goals, there's no need to ruin your progress with unhealthy fast food choices.

Here are five healthy fast food choices that are less than 400 calories:

1.) Salad Bowl (Chipotle)

If you love greens in your diet but don't trust restaurant salads as the dressings can become overkill, try going to Chipotle for your fix. According to My Fitness Pal, Chipotle's "Salad Bowl with Romaine Lettuce, Chicken, Black Beans, Fajita Vegetables and Fresh Tomato Salsa" has only 35 calories. Not only does the combination sound delicious, it's super healthy too. It only has 8.5 grams of fat, 33 grams of carbs, 15.5 fiber and 42 grams of protein in totality. Make sure to stay away from extra toppings like sour cream, guacamole and cheese as these can pack up the calories real quick.

2.) Breakfast Turkey Sausage Wrap (Dunkin' Donuts)

Suppose you're rushing for a meeting or you're on a road trip and you need to get good breakfast, Dunkin' Donut's DDSmart menu might just be for you. For only 310 calories, DD's Egg White Turkey Sausage Wake-Up Wrap is a smart breakfast eat. According to Eat This!, the meal has only 12 grams of fat, 5 grams of fat, 850 milligrams of sodium and 20 grams of protein.

3.) Veggie Sandwich (Subway)

Subway's 6-inch Veggie Delite sandwich is only 230 calories and 2.5 grams of fat. According to My Jelly Bean, it is made out of honey oat break, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, green and yellow papers and American cheese. It can also be paired with the sandwich joint's healthier soups including: Minestrone, Spanish Style Chicken with Rice, Tomato Garden Vegetable and Roasted Chicken Noodle at 160 calories or less for a full meal.

4.) Grilled Chicken Sandwich (McDonald's)

McD's is everywhere and just in case you can't find any other fast food place that is cheap, easy and convenient, you might want to try their Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich. According to BuzzFeed, it is only 360 calories and packed with 32 grams of protein, 6 grams of fat, 930 milligrams sodium and 43 grams carbohydrates.

5.) Breakfast Burrito (Burger King)

If you're hankering for a burrito for breakfast, Burger King is the place to go. According to BuzzFeed, their Sausage Breakfast Burrito is only 310 calories. It also has 14 grams of protein, 19 grams of fat, 820 milligrams of sodium and 27 grams of carbohydrates.
