King Kong vs. Godzilla will be revived with the help of Warner Bros. Studios. ComingSoon.net explains that two separate movies for King Kong and Godzilla will be hitting theaters in 2017 and 2018, respectively. After the release of each stand-alone monster flick, the production of King Kong vs. Godzilla will begin.

The King Kong movie, which is under Legendary Pictures, was recently moved from Universal Studios to Warner Bros. Studios, for the sake of the King Kong vs. Godzilla movie. Deadline believes that the change in studio was made mainly so the King Kong and Godzilla flicks could be made under one roof.

"King Kong: Skull Island" is already in the works with filming set to start in 2016, reports Deadline. The casting slots for the movie, which are based off the origin story of King Kong, is filling up quickly.

Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston and Corey Hawkins have been confirmed to appear in the film. There are rumors that Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson and John C. Reilly have each been offered big roles in the upcoming King Kong flick as well.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be directing the movie, based on a script written by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. "King Kong: Skull Island" is slated for a March 10, 2017 release date.

Meanwhile, the sequel for "Godzilla" is expected to premiere on June 8, 2018. The movie's script was written by Max Borenstein, while Gareth Edwards will return to helm the sequel.

Screen Rant speculates that the sequel to Godzilla may be a rehash of the 1968 classic, "Destroy All Monsters." This speculation is based off of the fact that footage of Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah was teased at the 2014 Comic-Con.

Cinema Blend adds that Bryan Cranston and Juliette Binoche will probably not return for the Godzilla future. The return of Elizabeth Olsen is less likely as well, since she is now involved with the "Avengers" franchise.

Since Olsen might not return, Aaron Taylor-Johnson might not either, since their characters were closely tied to each other in the original Godzilla remake. It would be questionable to see Taylor-Johnson in the sequel with his "wife" missing and child missing.

According to Comic Book, the last time the Eighth Wonder of the World and King of Monsters faced off against each other was in 1962. The original King Kong vs. Godzilla movie was made by Toho studios and was a big hit.

ComingSoon.net adds that the sizes of both monsters were adjusted to even the odds, since Godzilla would, theoretically, dwarf the King of Apes. Screen Rant believes that the Skull Island reboot will set up a way for King Kong to grow, before facing Godzilla.
