Official Android 7.1.1 Update Will Come To The Nexus 6 In Early January 2017[VIDEO]

Google has not officially confirmed that the Android 7.1.1 update will be released for Nexus 6 starting from January 2017 onwards. Earlier, Google promised the same update in December 2016. However, a "last-minute" bug has delayed the release of the OTA.

In a query to Android Police, Google spokesperson said that "Unfortunately, we found a last minute bug that was specific to the Nexus 6, which has caused the delay of the 7.1.1 OTA rollout. We've since fixed the issue and will be rolling out an update in early January".

Google Nexus 6 was released in 2014 and it is more than 2 years old now. But, luckily Google is still favoring to roll out new Android updates to this obsolete model. Incidentally, Google has denied the same update for Nexus 5, much to the disappointment of its users.

Google has released the Android Nougat 7 update for Nexus 6 in October 2016. The Nougat 7.0 has features of multi-window support for multi-tasking, new life Emojis and reply to messages from notification bar itself. The update sized 858 MB is well received, first by Google users.

Android 7.1.1 incorporated features like new Emojis, App shortcut to the home button, Night mode and support for Daydream, Google's pet project expected to revolutionize the virtual reality experience. Along with Nexus, its successors google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P will also receive the OTA update for Android 7.1.1, as reported in Tech Times.

Google Nexus 6 smartphone is featured with 5.96 Quad HD display with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon Soc 805 on board, Adreno 420 GPU, supported by 3GB RAM with an option of 32 GB or 6GB internal storage.

The phone also flaunts 4k video recording at 30 fps and shoots images at 13MP resolution with rear camera and is protected by the Corning Gorilla glass 3. The phone was initially rolled out with Android 5.0 Lollipop and has received several updates quickly till date.
