"Pretty Little Liars" star Ashley Benson has graced countless of magazine covers and even has an endorsement with Bongo clothing line. However, despite being blessed with great looks and a whistle-blowing figure, the actress experienced body shaming during the early years of her career.

"I was just told I was too fat for a part," Ashley revealed in an interview with Ocean Drive. "I'm a size 2! I cried for 30 minutes, but then you have to let it roll off your shoulders or it could cause a serious eating disorder."

The actress also said that weight loss is a huge deal when you're working in Hollywood and the only way to manage this is to not let the criticisms get in the way. She also spoke about seeing her Photoshopped images often and admitted she's disappointed by it. "I hate to think that girls are like, 'She's so skinny! Her skin is so perfect!' I have pimples just like they do," she further told the magazine.

In fact, back in 2013, Ashley posted a retouched poster for "Pretty Little Liars" and lashed out at the way it was overdone. "Our faces in this were from 4 years ago.....and we all look ridiculous. Way too much photo shop. We all have flaws. No one looks like this. It's not attractive," she wrote.

The 26-year-old star got her start as an ad model when she was 8-years old and recognizes the perks of being famous. However, there's a downside to being in the spotlight, especially in the age of social media.

"Now with everyone having a camera on their phones and Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, every moment of your life can be documented by anyone who happens to see you," she expressed. She admitted getting annoyed by this, but acknowledges that it comes with her job.

Ashley insisted she's far from perfect and, like everyone else, she has flaws in her body. The young adult star is known for posting images of herself sans makeup or looking very unglamorous to let her followers know that celebrities don't always look perfect. "The press makes everyone's life out to be much more exciting than it really is. Trust me," she said at the end of the interview.
