As "Super Smash Bros" fans are still celebrating over the game's win at the People's Choice Award, there are hints that its game developer, Masahiro Sakurai, is already working on the next DLC character for the title.

Nintendo Life reported that "Super Smash Bros" bested other video game titles like "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," "Grand Theft Auto V," "Minecraft" and "Batman: Arkham Knight" for the "Favorite Video Game" award at the People's Choice Awards last Jan. 6. The recognition proved that, despite the game being released two years ago, it remains to be very popular among young gamers.

Christian Today reported that "Super Smash Bros" success can be attributed to the game's quality, which has remained consistent despite updates and DLC additions. The game is both available to play on Nintendo Wii U and 3DS and have an estimated combined sales of over 10 million copies worldwide since its release.

Meanwhile, Event Hubs reported that the game's main developer is already hard at work on the new "Super Smash Bros" DLC characters. Sakurai apparently slipped the details during an interview for Famitsu magazine.

The news outlet further stated that Sakurai has not taken any breaks or vacation for the latest project, but he's said to be almost done with the development, so news of the next "Super Smash Bros" DLC characters should be coming out soon. Like previous releases, the characters will be made available for both Wii U and 3DS. However, the exact date as to when this will be is still unclear.

Sakurai also stated that he's going to move on with a new project after this last one and the task has been laid out for him even before he is developing the latest DLC characters. It's highly likely the developer is heading to do games for the much-awaited Nintendo NX release, which has been rumored for announcement by June 2016, as previously reported on Latinos Health.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has confirmed that it will be throwing its support for the "Super Smash Bros" tournament happening on Jan. 15 to 17 in California. Organizer Genesis 3 announced its partnership with Nintendo on Twitter and thousands of fans are expected to be in attendance.

Nintendo Life stated in another report that this is the first time the gaming company has supported the fan event.
