There are some men who wonder why they couldn't reach their fitness goal after spending several hours every week at the gym. They follow their fitness and diet program but they couldn't make their body lose the extra weight they have been trying to drop for so many months.

According to the fitness magazine, Men's Health, there are certain mistakes men commit without having any knowledge of it. Yes, they follow the program that has been taught to them but most men are not educated of what they must "not" do when trying to lose some pounds.

Most mistakes men commit come from their eating habits. A little extra of everything does not really mean that much but, if you do it in a daily basis, it becomes a habit. It is a habit that would not get you near your goal.

These are the common mistakes men make that are not helping them to lose weight.

They skip their snacks or meals

If a person skips a meal, the body will lose its ability to control the appetite. It will mess up their diet that would eventually make a person hungry all the time.

Consuming too much salty snacks

Salt craving is a habit that needs to stop. Salty food or snacks can make a person eat more without realizing it.

Alcohol

It is certainly not surprising that this makes the list. Drinking occasionally is not a bad thing as long as you don't play lazy at the gym. However, drinking too much of it is not going to help you lose weight.

Don't feast too much on weekends

You need to control yourself during the family's weekend barbecue gathering.

Speed eating

Let yourself savor what you eat. It will help you eat less.

Eating while watching the favorite show

Enjoying your favorite TV show with some burger and fries will only do one thing for you, that is take you far away from reaching your fitness goal.

Breaking multiple habits is a very hard thing to do. That is why it is important to list down all your mistakes and aim at one or two behaviors that you can easily break. That should be a good start.

Meanwhile, recent research suggests that changing several bad behaviors all at once can be stressful. A person can only do so much and the most effective way to kick those habits is to break them by following the much safer approach of slow and steady.

According to Jennifer McDaniel, R.D. of St. Louis University, men must "target just one or two behaviors at first-ones that you can make the most difference by changing."

According to The Living Well Lifestyle, the simplest form of breaking a bad habit is to replace it with something new. A new habit you can develop to help you become healthier.
