Melissa McCarthy reveals her weight loss secret after she has been recently spotted with a slimmer figure as she walked down the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie, "Spy."

McCarthy appeared in an interview with Gayle King's CBS This Morning on Wednesday, where she was asked to share her weight loss journey in the past year.

"I truly stopped worrying about it," she told Gayle King. "I stopped over-analyzing, over-thinking, over-doing anything. I kinda went back to when I was pregnant and I just stopped constantly being worried about it and I think there's something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked. I could've figured that out before 44, but whatever."

The 44-year-old "Bridesmaids" star initially joked that she "cried off the pounds" when she was first asked what her weight loss secret was. Although she hasn't really revealed what her exercise or diet regimen is, McCarthy was reported to have shed off pounds due to a high protein, low-carb diet.

According to Daily Mail, the actress was motivated to get healthier to set a better example for her kids.

"Melissa realized she wasn't being as healthy as she could be," an uncited source told the Mail. "She wants to set a good example for her kids and she wants to be around to become a grandmother too."

The gradual weight loss has given McCarthy "a real confidence boost" as well.

Meanwhile, the "Spy" star is set to release a range of plus-size clothing called Melissa McCarthy Seven7.

When asked what her favorite piece in her new collection is, McCarthy got emotional when she described a cat sweater drawn by one of her daughters.

"I'm such a dorky mom, I get choked up about the dumbest things. Not that that's dumb. It's just that she's very creative, she loves to draw," she told PEOPLE.

McCarthy and her husband, Ben Falcone, have 2 daughters, Vivian, 9, and Georgette, 5.

According to McCarthy, her new clothing line is designed to empower women.

"I'm trying to give women a closet that gives them some variety. I want women to get dressed every day and feel good about themselves," she said.

"I don't care what it is, if it's dyeing your hair blue, if it's a sweater, whatever you want to do, if it makes you feel good and empowered, I stand behind it 100 percent. And if I can be a little tiny block on that wall, I'd be proud of that," she added.

McCarthy's comedy film "Spy" is currently showing in theaters worldwide.
