Battling with weight issues is something most people are tired of doing that sometimes, they prefer to go the easy route. From following the latest fad diet to the fastest and easiest fitness workout, some individuals have seen and tried it all. However, a new study will probably make it even easier for them through its discovery of a diet pill that mimics exercise and aids in weight loss.

Mirror Daily UK reports that a team of researchers from the University of Southampton in Britain has developed a substance called Compound 14 that can be the "magic weight loss pill" everyone has been waiting for. According to their research, it copies what exercise can do and can prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Ali Tavassoli, a chemical biology and lead researcher of the study, states that Compound 14 can hinder the activity of ATIC, an enzyme responsible for the metabolism process in the body, by preventing the molecule ZMP from triggering the energy sensor AMPK and tricking the body into thinking it is low on energy. The cells then try to cope up by rapidly increasing the metabolism process and glucose intake, same as what happens to the body whenever it works out.

The study has been experimented on a group of obese mice and within-normal weight mice, writes News Australia. The researchers have discovered that a single dose of Compound 14 has reduced the obese mice's blood glucose to normal levels while no changes have occurred in mice within-normal weight. Furthermore, the obese mice have been able to lose more body weight after taking the compound for a week, attributing to five percent weight loss.

Dr. Feline Cagampang, associate professor in Integrative Physiology at the same university and coauthor of the study, said the findings may help overweight or obese individuals to finally achieve their desirable body weight. Best of all, not only can it aid in weight loss, but the compound can normalize blood glucose levels which can be beneficial for individuals suffering from diabetes, the professor added.

Apex Tribute adds that the research team is very optimistic that Compound 14 can be developed into future treatment pills for diabetes and obesity. As this compound can be used in any form, pharmaceutical companies can help in turning it into an everyday pill that can aid in weight management without the hassle of doing a lot of physical activity.
